The Legion Community Garden in Distington is a developing community growing space created by the Distington Community Trust - a small Community Benefit Trust with charitable aims focused on improving local wellbeing, opportunity and community life.

Who are we?

We are a friendly bunch of people of all ages and varying experience in gardening that work together to grow a wide variety of crops in Brampton

What is it about ?

In the garden we all work together to look after all the crops, we water, plant, and harvest as a community so you can still have a holiday without all your plants dying!

Park End Community Garden, Vulcan Park

The Park End Community Garden sits beside the restored Park End Shelter in Vulcan Park, Workington, offering a calm, welcoming space where people can grow, create and connect. Designed as a hub for community activities which support health, creativity, sustainability and wellbeing, the garden brings neighbours together through gentle gardening, seasonal projects and relaxed outdoor workshops.

Red Lonning Community Garden

The Red Lonning Community Centre Garden in Whitehaven is a growing community space transforming a former children’s day centre into a vibrant, welcoming garden at the heart of the estate. The quarter‑acre site offers indoor and outdoor facilities including a hall, kitchen, toilets, sheltered sowing area, parking, raised beds, composting systems and a developing polytunnel.

St Mary's Church Westfield Community Garden

The St Mary’s Church Westfield Community Garden is a welcoming green space in Westfield, Workington. Open to everyone, it offers a peaceful place to sit, relax, or take part in light gardening, with no experience needed. The garden reflects the church’s inclusive, community‑centred ethos and is a space where people of all ages can connect with nature, enjoy friendly company and find a moment of calm in the heart of the neighbourhood.
