Legion Community Garden

The Legion Community Garden in Distington is a developing community growing space created by the Distington Community Trust - a small Community Benefit Trust with charitable aims focused on improving local wellbeing, opportunity and community life.

Located on Church Road, the garden sits on a piece of land being transformed into a shared outdoor space with community allotments, growing beds and areas for people to meet, learn and take part in gentle activity. The project is designed to bring residents together, encourage healthier living and give the village a welcoming green space shaped by the community itself.

As the garden develops, the Trust aims to involve local volunteers, families, and partner groups in planting, maintaining the site and shaping how the space grows. The long‑term vision is a friendly, inclusive garden where people of all ages can connect with nature, learn new skills and enjoy a sense of belonging.
